The five Lotus Fairies live in the Pool of the Green Waves of Heaven. Going down to Earth is strictly forbidden, but the fairies find their lives boring and they want adventure. So they disobey and go down to Earth.

As they come to know the Earth and all its creatures, the fairies come to love them even as they bid them farewell and return to Heaven. When severe drought threatens the existence of Earth and its inhabitants, the fairies decide to disobey once again in order to save it. 

The Lotus Fairies are faced with the decision to follow the rules of Heaven or save their friends on Earth. Do they follow the rules of Heaven and let the Earth perish or do they disobey the Queen of the West and bring her wrath upon them?
